Each week, I send an email to help you connect, even during your busiest seasons. Read it to each other in bed or take it in the car with you. It’s made to be easy, like Sunday morning.
1 question to check in with each other
1 activity to get closer
1 intention for the coming week
In this edition, you’ll also find a few other recommendations at the very bottom.
The State of Things:
First things first… let’s check in about how things are going overall in your relationship.
On a scale of 1-10 (1 being nowhere close to ideal, 10 being ideal) did you feel that I touched you enough this week? Tell me what you really liked about touch this week and then tell me what I could do next week to make the rating one point higher.
Did you know? Social media has put us into a touch crisis, a researcher noted when she saw that nobody was touching each other, everyone was on their phone.
Getting Closer:
[Sexual Intimacy]
Not everyone has the same motivation for sex. In fact, one study showed that there are over 200 motivators for sex.
In their new book Desire, Drs.Fogel Mersy and Vencill help you understand why you and your partner might experience libido differences. One activity they suggest to gain a better understanding of yourself (and your partner)? Get clear on your motivations.
Use the list below from Desire as a jumping off point to talk with your partner about where desire comes from for you. Remember, no judging. Openness is what makes the [relationship] world go round.
Setting an Intention:
“This week I am going to be mindful of the touch I want and the touch I am giving”
Extra, Extra Read All About It:
Desire, An Inclusive Guide to Navigating Libido Differences in Relationships is on my nightstand this week + is what I’m recommending to colleagues and clients. Check it out to better understand what desire really is and how your desire motivators impact your sex life.
